Summary

Press Blurb

Their press blurb, taken from a 2011 application to perform at The Hideout Theatre:

Second Hand is a three person outfit, composing and performing short plays on the spot. Taking the works of Sarah Ruhl, Charles Mee, and Miranda July (amongst others) as a lead, Second Hand aspires to weave small stories of wonder and bewilderment, surprise and loss, melancholy and whimsy.

"What's Your Deal?"

Their answer to the "What's Your Deal?" question on a 2011 application to perform at The Hideout Theatre:

Working on a format with more crisply stylized scene ends, and beginnings.

Each scene has an improvised and announced title.

Scene cuts are made vis-a-vis a bell apparatus that we are improving.

We integrate isolated monologues, stage directions akin to magical realism, and some chorus scenes.

We want our stories to be grounded in the emotional reality of our characters, and our characters to be grounded in unresolved worldviews.

We want our shows to feel very intimate, and secretly wish people left thinking we're magicians in addition to improvisers.
