Cast

Austin/Austin (said Austin and Austin) is a duo of friends Ryan Austin and Quinn Buckner with the conscious goal of creating a long term troupe capable of doing regular shows and attending festivals. The duo was conceptualized in early 2014 when after many months of throwing the name "Austin and Austin" they had their first rehearsal and confirmed wanting to start a duo. The name Austin/Austin comes from Quinn Buckner's first name (Austin) and Ryan Austin's last name.

Format

Don't Worry About it

Basic montage with the stipulation that each scene end with the phrase "Don't Worry About It" as organically as possible. Its the goal that the audience (and maybe even players) become so engaged in the scene that they forget the phrase is coming.

Two Lost Brothers

More grounded narrative in which Ryan and Quinn play two brothers that become lost in a place decided at the top of the show. Potentially a mono-scene depending on if the brothers are forced to split up. To grab the suggestion they inverse the classic "audience yells out something and the troupe picks something they like" standard for Ryan rambling off locations that they haven't been to yet and the audience picking what they like.

  • What Do We Do? Long Version

"Austin/Austin will be doing one of three formats, chosen by the audience via spinning wheel. Don't Worry About It is a montage format in which Austin/Austin try to make you forget that the edit for every scene is an organic "Don't worry about it". Two Lost Brothers is a narrative about two brothers of an age chosen by the audience who get lost in a location also of the audience's choice. Finally Dungeon Masters is a montage/narrative in which Austin/Austin fill out a fantasy world and visit characters inspired by Lord of the Rings, Song of Fire and Ice, etc...."

  • Who Are We? Long Version

"Austin/Austin is the joining of two friends whose goal is to try everything and become the best they can be while having as much fun as possible. Ryan Austin is the group's debonair lady killer providing grounded scene work and an unstoppable positive energy. Quinn Buckner is coming up on five years of improv experience bringing to the table an eye for support, an abundance of physicality, and a pension for fun. Ryan and Quinn have separately been to festivals from Out of Bounds to Improvaganza in Hawaii and have done numerous mainstages at the Hideout Theatre as well as shows all around Austin. "

  • Who Are We and What Do We Do?

"Austin/Austin is the joining of two friends whose goal is to try everything and become the best they can be while having as much fun as possible. With three formats: A montage "Don't Worry About It", a narrative "Two Lost Brothers", and a more open ended fantasy based "Dungeon Masters" Austin/Austin lets chance decide the format for the night. You never know what adventure is to be had unless you see them for yourself!"

  • Why Should You Choose Us for a Run

"Our multiple formats and random chance that each one gets played could bring people back eager to see a different format. Each format is solid in concept and fun to see. We also wear basically the same thing and have a very "good guy" vibe that we play into. Ultimately we're aiming to chase inspiration and bring that to every rehearsal and show."
