Prior to 2009, Lacy's only experience with improv included watching Whose Line is it Anyway on TV as a kid, and playing a random selection of improv games in a high-school theatre class.  In 2009, [[Shana Merlin]] guest lectured in one of Lacy's creative advertising classes.  Two years later, after completing graduate school, Lacy finally had time to sign up for classes.  Lacy completed levels 101-601 at [[Merlin Works Institute for Improvisation]].  In her first year of improvising, Lacy also took all of the other classes offered by MerlinWorks including Improv Singing 101-301 and several "improv labs."  Lacy has also taken classes at [[The Hideout Theatre]] and has taken workshops from out of town teachers during specialized workshops and festivals.
