Venn Diaphragm was an improv troupe.
Summary
Press Blurb
Their press blurb, taken from a 2010 application to perform at The Hideout Theatre:
Venn Diaphragm performs character-driven Chicago-style longform comedy.
Audiences are treated to patient, realistic scenes that build into fast-paced edits and tag-outs where worlds collide and the nature of reality is undone.
Okay, maybe that last part was hyperbole.
But Venn Diaphragm's specialty is committed scenework that finds humor in everyday situations, mixed with some light-hearted absurdity with characters that range from lovable nerds to self-centered aunts to blood thirsty squirrels. VD is a strong, consistent group with a collective 50 years of stage experience as well as training from iO Chicago, the Upright Citizens Brigade, the People's Improv Theater, and the Magnet Theater.
They'll make you laugh and--if you're lucky (or just really sensitive)--cry.
History
The troupe performed in The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in 2009 and 2010.
