Jukebox was an improv troupe.
Summary
Press Blurb
Their press blurb, taken from a 2012 application to perform at The Hideout Theatre:
Jukebox has been playing together since January 2011, which is almost 6 years in dog years. Their shows while sometimes witty, sometimes tasteless, but always enjoyable often cover a large range of improvistic stylings, both conventional and original. Their rich range of characters and devices are rooted in the group's wide variety of backgrounds and personalities. Having performed shows from central Austin, all the way to north central Austin, the group's well established following heaps praise on the group's fragile egos. Saying such things as, "I laughed so hard I spit beer on the bald guy in front of me." and "You were so much funnier than that other troupe." and "Well at least it was cheaper than a movie."
The ensemble has been involved in many aspects of local improv theatre from dialogue coaching, and directing, all the way down to lights and tickets, though their true passion is the awkward and often sexual scenes which has become their calling card. Recipient of the 2011 Funniest Troupe to Play Paul's House, and featured in the October edition of TINMU, Jukebox's energy and antics are not to be missed...unless there is like a better troupe playing somewhere. Then see those other guys. But come back and see Jukebox sometime, you won't regret it.
"What's Your Deal?"
Their answer to the "What's Your Deal?" question on a 2012 application to perform at The Hideout Theatre:
Jukebox's bread and butter is montage. Though common in Austin, you've never seen montage like this. Sex, drugs, rock and roll, spina bifida, libraries, board meetings, par-cheesy, nothing is off limits from this rambunctious bunch improvisors.
In addition Jukebox has been experimenting with other styles conventional and new including Armando, Four People on a Bench, The Hangover, The Twitter, Forward, and one which bring them all together in Wheel of Destiny type game. Honestly, Jukebox may not have any of these styles down by the show dates, but look for them on the horizon.
