John Emerson DeMond, hss cobalt drill bits 92, of Alanson, Michigan, died in his residence surrounded by his three loving children on Saturday morning, August 29, 2020. His ashes will probably be buried throughout a family ceremony in Libertyville, Illinois subsequent to these of his wife of sixty six years, Marianne DeMond (1927-2016). A reception will likely be held for associates and family in Spring, 2021 at Indian River Golf Club.


John was born in Coldwater, Michigan on October 18, 1927 to Raymond James DeMond and Beatrice DeMond (Stewart). John and his older brother Jim took to the water at Ackerson Lake swimming and fishing often. Both boys went on to become All American swimmers at Michigan State University, carbide cobalt drill bits following Raymond, a pitcher, into the Michigan State Hall of Fame.


The family moved from Coldwater to Jackson, Michigan and when John was fifteen, he met the lovely Edna Mae Senger. When he requested her identify, he responded "I can’t name you that. How about Marianne?" Later, at MSU, Marianne applied her considerable administrative and organizational abilities as government secretary to the pinnacle of the MSU Athletics division. John was duly impressed.


John and his brother James each served their country during World War II, Jim in Europe and John in Japan. John and Marianne were married on July 8, 1950. They later moved to Buffalo, New York the place John turned a management trainee within the industrial instruments business. They raised three youngsters, Laurie Rae, Cheryl Jaye, and Wade Stewart DeMond. John finished his profession as a Vice President of TRW after which VP of Precision twist drill - https://www.kharkhorincourt.gov.mn/user/lycratoad84 -. In 1987, John was elected as President of the American Supply and Machinery Manufacturers Association. In 1995, John and Marianne retired to their beloved few acres on Crooked Lake in Alanson, MI.


John applied his bodily prowess to many sports over time, however he had no higher passion than the sport of golf. John has been lauded for the number of times he shot his age. His household realizes that for John, golf was at once a sport and part of the ritual union amongst his many, many buddies. To that finish, he founded a membership at Indian River he dubbed "The Shooters". This group had been to John a brotherhood devoted to the development of the membership grounds.


His family will perpetuate the foundational life lessons he and Marianne imparted. As kids, we have been awoken by our father’s incantation: "Up, up, up another day of opportunity!" Despite the groans associated with yet one more day of college, these words from childhood echo right now with renewed significance. Children of the fifties, children of the greatest era, we are going to always remember the sacrifices they made, all with little complaint.


The household requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Alanson, Michigan Public Library, PO Box 37, Alanson, MI 49706, and to the Indian River Golf Club. Checks could also be payable to the Indian River Golf Club, 3301 Chippewa Beach Road, Indian River, MI 49749 for the good thing about the Employee Fund (memo).
