It was written and directed by Tom Booker, partly inspired by cast improvisation in the rehearsal process.

Bad Girls in Plaid Skirts is a comedic tribute to the exploitation films of the 50s and 60s conceived and directed by Tom Booker, creator of such sundries as "MANSON: The Musical!" and "Walt Disney’s Women In Prison" and a founding member of Chicago’s Annoyance Theater and the founder of LA's Theater-A-Go-Go!.
