Sara Farr is an improv performer and technical improvisor. She is the woman behind the Puppet Improv Project.

History

Sara started performing in 2005 with Wooden Nickel; that same year, she organized The Tuesday Night Jam at The Hideout Theatre. Her first improv-scoring was for Get Up at The 2005 Out of Bounds Comedy Festival. The following year, she started performing with The Leading Brands and regularly scoring Get Up.

In 2009, she founded the Puppet Improv Project, which has since had several show runs, and festival appearances at The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival and the Twin Cities Fest. She began performing with ComedySportz in 2010, but its Austin chapter dissolved in 2012 (she still makes guest appearances in San Antonio).

She's scored many shows at The Hideout Theatre, and in 2013 started teching occasionally for Girls Girls Girls.

Sara also designed the Austin Improv Collective's "kitchen sink" logo.

A post from her about the first improv show she ever saw:

A stand-up show at a comedy club in Santa Monica (early 1990s; not Laugh Factory, not Comedy Store, hm...) while attending college at USC. The last set, after all the other stand-ups, was a group of LA character actors (whose names I can't remember, but who I distinctly remember were staring in sitcoms or playing secondary rolls in films). It was shockingly fun. I remember thinking, "Why weren't these guys the opening act???!!" The one game they played that I remember was "Directed Story". A year later, Tom Booker and I unknowingly ALMOST crossed paths when my friends and I discussed going to see his production of "The Brady Bunch".

Also, saw some USC Theater students doing improv on the grass in the "quad". Only thing I remember was them doing an improvised "Death By..." scene. Fav was "Death By Admissions" where the players grew old and died while waiting in line.
