Timothy Coyle is an improv performer and member of the troupe Character Explosion.

History

It only took Tim 37, and multiple back injuries in martial arts, to finally got a clue that Improv is much easier on the body than kicks to the head. A free workshop held by Jon Bolden shortly after Wafflefest in 2013 convinced Tim to officially sign up for classes, completing all six levels at The Hideout Theatre

Tim can often be seen in the audience of Flying Theatre Machine with his nephew Jack. Tim has often be overheard saying that Jack, who wants to be an Improviser, will win a Maestro before he does.

Five Hideout Theatre students/recent graduates (Tim Coyle, Joy Parks, Robert Slack, Kathleen McFerren and Cagney Ortiz) will challenge improv veteran Ceej Allen by playing a variety of characters that he must then play. After running Ceej through this character gauntlet, a montage will occur where anyone can play any of the characters from the challenge. How the show was Pitched to Paul Normandin:

Every year Paul Normandin, the nicest guy in the universe, organizes a Hug Day downtown. This show will be a tribute and a recreation of that. The idea couldn't be simpler, even if it is a little tricky to grasp. Here's Tim's pitch to Paul:

"Say you and others who were giving out hugs play while people are walking on stage from time to time to get or decline hugs. It could be neat to see the actual conversations that take place between hug times, as well as end with everyone in the audience."

The Perfect Free Fringe show.

How the show was performed

In front of an audience of friends and peers, in celebration and recognition of his 5th annual Hug Day, Paul was honored with a Texas State Flag, along with Certificates thanking him signed by the Governor of the State of Texas for his continued contribution and pursuit to bring more happiness and love to the City of Austin. Credit to Laramie Stroud for all his contributions and presenting Paul. The entire audience was a cast member that evening.
